A visitor attraction at Silverstone, the home of F1 racing in the UK, will open in spring 2019.
The Silverstone Experience will celebrate the past, present and future of the Northamptonshire circuit and British motor sport using pioneering technology.
Marketing agency Mongoose Sports & Entertainment says the attraction will bring over 500,000 people per year closer to the circuit’s intriguing history.
It confirms that there will be coach parking facilities, and says the attraction is going to “have a real focus on schoolchildren and community, with the aim of getting 40,000 children through the door every year.”
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the project has HRH Prince Harry as its patron, and says he is keen to draw attention to the contribution the UK has made to the sport as a means of encouraging more people into engineering and the thriving British motor sport industry.
Open year-round, the Silverstone experience will deliver an immersive journey through the decades of motor sport at Silverstone, focusing on the heroes, history and innovations that have driven the sport forward.
Sally Reynolds, CEO of The Silverstone Experience, says: “It’s an exciting time for us all and we are looking forward to working with Mongoose to help deliver our vision and securing long lasting commercial partnerships. There has been a very positive response already, with several conversations ongoing.”
