New sponsor Premier Pits joins the IRTE Skills Challenge in 2019 and is intent on using its influence to further the reputation of the competition
Now open for applications, the IRTE Skills Challenge returns in 2019 with operators from the bus and coach sector having already submitted teams of apprentices, technicians and master technicians for the testing week in June at S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol.
Matt Dilley, Marketing Manager at new sponsor Premier Pits, believes that the competition is a true reflection of how the industry is changing for the better, by providing a safe and comfortable environment for technicians to work in.
“The IRTE Skills Challenge is the perfect platform for technicians and apprentices alike to hone their skills,” says Matt. “From an operator’s perspective, entering a team shows confidence that their engineers can compete to be the best in the industry and raises standards for everyone involved.”
Premier Pits manufactured 149 pits last year alone, and has become the UK distributor of BrakeMate, which improves the safety and efficiency of replacing brake discs by reducing heavy lifting during brake disc maintenance.
Matt adds: “We see this as a great opportunity, not only to develop new relationships in the industry, but to get feedback from technicians on how we can continue to develop and improve our Premier Pits.
“The competition puts apprentices in the spotlight and shows how the industry is committed to producing and growing young talent. By entering apprentices into the challenge, companies show that they are truly investing in young people.”
