Stagecoach has named its 2020 eco-driving winners in the Christopher Ball Memorial Awards.
Stagecoach Oxfordshire was overall winner for the sixth year running. Its employees showed consistently strong eco-driving performance over the last year. The top depot award went to London’s Leyton depot.
Stagecoach Merseyside driver Dave Birch of Stagecoach’s Birkenhead depot was named top performing driver for the fifth time.
Thanks to the GreenRoad system, which uses a traffic-light style LED dashboard indicator giving feedback to drivers on their manoeuvres, Stagecoach has reported a cut of 14% in carbon emissions over the past five years.
Says Stagecoach Regional Director Robert Andrew: “We’re very proud of the great work of all of our employees right across the country under the difficult circumstances of the last few recent months. The eco-driving awards scheme has become a hotly contested scheme and even during difficult times, it’s great to be naming this year’s winners for their excellent eco-driving performance and our congratulations go to them all.”
The awards have recognised eco-driving excellence across the Stagecoach company since 2015. They are named for Christopher Ball, who was instrumental in introducing the GreenRoad system to Stagecoach vehicles across the UK.
