Regarding Greg White's comments and views [routeone/opinion/3 April], they are widely held throughout road transport.
An in or out DCPC referendum of vocational drivers would currently end the fiasco if the government took any notice.
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions" sums up the situation quite well.
Professional development for commercial drivers is a good idea. Had it been sold to the industry as Drivers Continued Professional Development it may have had a better reception.
Allowing multiple repeats of modules, and inconsistencies in relevance to those required to attend has damaged the credibility of the scheme and frequently places at risk, the integrity of providers and trainers.
Personally, I am very disappointed with current provision as the opportunity to improve safety on the roads has largely been missed.
I understand changes are in the pipeline. It must be a small pipe; progress is flowing very slowly.
