Thank you so much for publishing my last offering regarding the situation in Bourton-on-the-Water.
I am astonished it has got to where it is. Prohibition orders for coaches? Have they forgotten the recent horrors of COVID-19 and the destruction that brought? I have seen an incredible explosion of business in the coach industry. New vehicles, good numbers on bookings, so on and so forth.
How on earth can this really be happening?
The fact is, I’m sorry to say that it has happened. As one recent article said, the horse has bolted.
Well, maybe it’s time we just leave Bourton-on-the-Water Parish Council to it. Bourton is a fabulous place, but I reiterate what I said last time. We are expected, as an industry, to just bend and flex to every other demand that is thrown at us and, frankly, I’ve had enough.
If Bourton becomes a onehorse town of tumbleweed and closed shops, so be it. There are plenty of other places willing to accept our business.
One example, although many miles from Bourton, is the cathedral city of Wells. There you’ll find welcoming coach hosts, free parking, and easy access. What’s not to like?
Maybe the Parish Council needs to take a look at such places and grow up. It makes no sense at all.
The Bourton saga should never have happened.
