Local bus services should be run more like the railways.
With almost daily road closures and diversions, the situation is now getting ridiculous, causing problems and delays for local bus service operators and passengers. For the worry and stress etc., operators should be compensated.
If Network Rail, which maintains the national rail network, causes delays and cancellations to a train operator’s services, then that operator is compensated.
So when highway infrastructure work, such as road repairs, water, BT, gas, UK power work etc., cause delays and diversions to local bus services, then compensation should be paid to the bus operator or operators affected.
This perhaps would induce those in charge of such roadworks to complete their work much more quickly.
