Mixture of lengths to be ready in time for the 67-plate registration; more to follow, says MAN
MAN has confirmed that the first production Neoplan Tourliners in right-hand drive to the recently-revealed improved design will arrive in the UK in August, in time for registration with September’s 67 plate.
A batch of 13 has been ordered, with a mixture of two-axle coaches at 12.1m and tri-axles at 13.2m and 13.9m.
More will arrive towards the end of the year and the importer says that there is good availability of build slots at the Ankara factory in Turkey for custom-built Tourliners.
“We have already sold the UK’s first example of the new model Tourliner, which will be a custom-built model,” says Regional Coach Sales Executive North Steven Duffy.
While built-to-order Tourliners are available, MAN will also be able to arrange for stock coaches to be modified after arrival in the UK. Such work will be carried out by AD Coach Systems, which is based in Biddulph.
The 13.9m, accessible demonstrator is currently busy and is occupied with potential buyers until December, although it is available to evaluate after then. Mr Duffy says that a customer demonstration typically begins on a Wednesday and last for either five or 12 days.
Glen Valley Tours, based in Wooler, Northumberland, was the second operator to take the new Tourliner demonstrator and it proved itself on a recent trip to Venice, says Director Iain Moffat.
The new Tourliner comes with a three-year comprehensive warranty as standard, adds Mr Duffy, plus a fourth year of driveline cover with a maximum permitted mileage of 600,000km. MAN can also supply an optional fifth year of driveline coverage, he adds.
