Harrogate-based Connexionsbuses is ceasing operation of its route 965 Wharfedale Service from 9 January “as the timing of the competing service from Transdev Blazefield has made it impossible for us to continue,” says MD Craig Temple.

He says: “When First announced that they were withdrawing its service in October, PTE Metro asked operators to speak to them before registering a replacement.

“We did, and came up with a plan to operate it as an extension to route 940 which we operate under contract to Metro – thus re-introducing a link from Northwest Leeds to Wharfedale Hospital in Otley.

“Metro thought this to be a good idea – gave us their blessing as no other operator had spoken to them, and we registered it.”

He says that only after this, did Connexionsbuses discover that Transdev had registered a service as well. Mr Temple says that from 9 January, Transdev have re-timed its service in front of Connexionsbuses’ bus by five minutes.
