JG Travel Group recently reintroduced its Drivers Academy programme to an in-person format for the first time since 2019.
It saw over 75 coach drivers from the business’s partner operators attend one of four training sessions. Those gatherings were held around the UK during the first half of April and were timed to occur shortly ahead of the start of the prime touring season.
Each seminar focused on a variety of topics including tour planning, coach and driver presentation, customer service, and communication. JG Travel Group held a virtual Drivers Academy programme in 2021, but in readiness for 2022, Head of Logistics Richard Oxspring overhauled the training with a focus on going “back to basics following the pandemic.”
Adds Mr Oxspring: “After the challenges of the last two years, getting everyone back together in person was brilliant. You could really feel the joy during each session and there was a real feeling of being part of a team as drivers interacted, something that is harder to achieve over Zoom.
“This year we wanted to help and guide the drivers who work with us to ensure that they have all the skills they need to deliver our customer experience to the highest standards. As coach touring returns bigger and stronger than ever for 2022, it is great to see our drivers getting out on the road again.”
JG Travel Group recently said that it expects to have its “biggest ever year” in 2022 through its Just Go! Holidays, National Holidays and Omega Breaks brands, with sales well above 2019 levels.
