Impossible situation

I write to echo the sentiments of Hugo Miller in last week’s routeone regarding the lack of MoT slots available.

This situation has become almost impossible. Coach operators have vehicles sat off the road unable to work because MoTs have expired despite them trying to book slots well in advance.

I attended an evening a few months ago where the Traffic Commissioner and various other authorities, including a DVSA representative, were present.

Although most of the very jovial evening was spent listening to what these powers can do to ‘naughty coach operators’ should they ever fail in any of their endless duties and responsibilities, the issue of MoT problems was raised.

But not to worry everyone because the answer from the DVSA representative was simply ‘sorry’.

It would be a lovely world if we could all just say sorry without penalty should we catastrophically fail at what we do.
