Sarah East National ExpressNational Express UK Bus has announced Sarah East will take over as Managing Director, succeeding Antony Goozee from 1 July.

Ms East has been with National Express since 2019 and has held a series of senior leadership roles across both the operator’s coach and bus businesses.

She moved full-time into the bus division in 2023, focusing on operational leadership and delivery of strategic priorities.

Before joining National Express, Ms East spent more than a decade in operational roles with FirstGroup.

Mr Goozee will leave the business at the end of June after eight years with the operator and just over a year in the role.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms East says: “We have a well-established bus strategy for 2026 which is already delivering positive results and remains the right approach for our business.

“Our focus will continue to be on providing safe, reliable, sustainable and easy-to-use public transport services for the communities we serve across the West Midlands. I’m excited to continue working with colleagues across UK Bus in my new role and to build on the strong progress we have already made together.”

Paco Iglesias, CEO of Mobico Group, thanked Mr Goozee for his contribution to the business.

“I would like to thank Antony for his leadership, commitment and the impact he has made, and wish him every success for the future,” he says.

“Sarah’s appointment is a natural progression. She has been instrumental in developing our UK Bus strategic direction and working closely with the UK Bus Executive Team, local blueprint teams and colleagues across the UK Bus business to bring that strategy to life.”
